Harry L. Levy (1906-1981) served as a professor and dean of students at Hunter College, dean and vice-chancellor of the City University of New York, professor of the humanities at Fordham University, and visiting professor of classical studies at Duke University. Levy wrote several books and numerous articles; he specialized in the Roman poet Claudian, and authored major works on Ovid and Lucian.
