The New York Feminist Art Institute, of which Peslikis was a founding member, began in 1979 and offered a radical feminist art education for women. In 1981 Peslikis was voted off the Institute's board of directors, prompting the resignation of others. This stemmed from a disagreement about racial intergration in the Institute.
