Steve Roden is an American sound and visual artist, and was the 2014 Barbaralee Diamonstein-Spielvogel Visiting Artist in Residency at the Rubenstein Library. His collection contains prints, video, and sound files created as a result of his residency.

Collection contains artwork created by Steve Roden as a result of his residency at the Rubenstein Library as the 2014 Barbaralee Diamonstein-Spielvogel Visiting Artist. His collection consists of a box containing 11 prints and 2 thumb drives. One thumb drive contains video files, and the other contains audio files. Roden's Visual Works on Paper are accompanied by his notes explaining his thought process and questions as he worked with Rubenstein materials during his residency. His artwork was inspired by medieval manuscripts, the Irene Peslikis Papers, Julian Abele and his role as an architect for Duke University, and other unspecified collections held in the Rubenstein Library. Acquired as part of the Archive of Documentary Arts (Duke University).

Thomas Chapin (1957-1998) was a white jazz saxophonist/flutist and composer from Connecticut. Collection includes sheet music, audio recordings, photographs, correspondence, clippings, and other material that document Chapin's life and work.

The collection (100 items, 2.5 linear feet; dated 1979-1998) contains audio cassettes and compositions by Thomas Chapin, as well as clippings, programs, memorial messages, and other items about him. Also includes recordings on 17 reel-to-reel tapes, 8 CDs, and 5 audiocassette tapes of performances by Chapin and others; 3 electronic computer files; and 24 small musical instruments of plastic and metal. Also contains a number of collages by Chapin, documenting another of his forms of expression; personal items, especially photographs and correspondence, reflecting his close relationships with family and friends; videos and film reels of recording sessions, tours, and other events, including Chapin's memorial service; sheet music and music books; clothing and hats; 3 hand instruments; performance posters; and business items.

Accession 2021-0109 includes sheet music by Chapin, photographs, scrapbooks, and photo books. The scrapbooks and photo books contain material from Chapin's life, as well as after his death. The posthumous material largely consists of memorial concert programs and articles and clippings about Chapin's life.
