Includes many files assembled by the first Executive Director, Norman B. Smith, but the bulk of the files are from the 1980s and were assembled during George Gardner's term. The majority of the materials take the form of correspondence, chiefly relating to ACLU (national and regional), attorney activities, committee work, and case files either for litigation or investigation. Researchers should be aware that privacy laws govern the use or publication of information in these files.
