The Advertising Council is a nonprofit organization, founded in 1942 and based in New York, N.Y., that produces and distributes public service messages and advertising.
The Advertising Council was founded in 1942 in New York. The following year it renamed as the War Advertising Council to promote a range of war-related social activities and programs. In 1946 the organization reverted to its original Advertising Council name and continued its work on a variety of public service programs, generally pairing with advertising agencies which worked on a pro bono basis.
