Correspondence, 1951-2016
- Scope and content:
-
Atkinson's professional correspondence with other economists, publishers, and organizations. This is sometimes in the form of printouts of email from his Nuffield account, which Oxford has a backup of. Atkinson did not keep many dedicated correspondence files and often interfiled correspondence into other files instead (many letters can be found in the Professional Activities series, for example). Loose correspondence was also discovered while processing this collection. It was sorted into letter files and merged with preexisting letter files created by Atkinson, then the largest amounts of material from a single entity were pulled and given their own named files, including for Andrea Brandolini, Frank Hahn, Stephen Jenkins, Mervyn King, James Meade, John Micklewright, Thomas Piketty, Amartya Sen, and Frank Vandenbroucke. Arranged alphabetically by last name or organization, with files of correspondence from Atkinson, unidentified correspondence, and cards and postcards at the end.
