Organizations, 1970s-2000s

Scope and content:

The Organizations series contains materials relating to organziations in which Baker was involved, or held a leadership position. Material is arranged by organization, and may include business plans, contact lists, correspondence, organizational documents such as meeting or committee minutes, event planning documents, photographs and resources provided by the organizations.

This series contains 12 subseries: Choice New Jersey, Communications Consortium, Family Equality Coalition, In Support of Women's Lives, National Abortion Federation (NAF), National Abortion Rights League (NARAL), The 80% Majority and National Center for the Pro-Choice Majority, New Jersey Education Association, National Organization of Women (NOW), National Organization of Women New Jersey (NOW-NJ), Planned Parenthood and Pro-Choice Education Project.

The bulk of this material pertains to the National Center for Pro-Choice Majority (formerly the 80% Majority), the organization Baker founded and led that provided information and resources on anti-abortion militants and movements to pro-choice activists, clinics and providers. The 80% Majority was founded by Ann Baker in 1987, although she started work under that organization name as early as 1984. In 1992, she changed the name to the National Center for Pro-Choice Majority (NCPCM). The 80% Majority and NCPCM are filed together here, with materials dating from 1984-1992 listed as the 80% Majority and from 1992-on as NCPCM. Files that span between the two organizations are combined into one file under The 80% Majority/NCPCM.
