Administrative Staff: Pilot Interviews and Administrative Files, circa 1910-1993, bulk 1993
- Scope and content:
-
Before the Behind the Veil (BTV) project teams began their work of interviewing in various regions, a small group of African American BTV staff were asked to take part in pilot interviews in Durham, N.C. to test the workflow and to provide training for interviewers. Each of the six individuals listed here are represented by one cassette tape recording that has been digitized. Administrative folders which accompany the interviews include detailed biographical data sheets, interviewer notes and summaries. There are no known transcripts associated with these interviews, but each digitized recording includes captioning. Like other interviewees, these six staff members were assigned a numerical identifier. This identifier also appears as an element in the identifiers for the recordings and interview-associated slides and photographs. Two of these Behind the Veil staff, William Crumpton and Chris Stewart, also donated historic African American materials to be imaged; these slide sets are listed with each individual.
