Prints, 2004-2020
- Scope and content:
-
Includes 130 prints of varying sizes, mostly in color, and created by Ben Brody. Each print includes a caption, narrative, or description; a date; a location; and a signature by Brody on the reverse side. Most prints feature Brody's photography on or nearby military bases and several cities within Iraq and Afghanistan such as Iskandariyah, Baghdad, Lakokhel, Kandahar, Kabul, and others. Prints depict members of the military and their work such as raids, destruction of equipment, and engaging with others, alongside time spent on military bases, celebrations, and other leisure activities. Some prints include civilians or show injuries. Additionally, captions, narratives, and other descriptions on the reverse side offer insight into Brody's personal experiences and thoughts on the events being depicted. A smaller subset of the prints feature images in the United States, mainly Massachusetts; these are largely in black-and-white, and feature individuals including Brody alongside natural environments.
