Albumen print photograph album, 1911

Scope and content:

The photograph album (60 pages) contains 94 albumen prints featuring images taken during the Calhoun party's travel between China and the United States in 1911, via Siberia. The back of the album contains a handwritten itinerary including identification of people in the photographs. Among the places photographed are Peiking (Beijing); Moscow; Berlin; Marken Island; Stratford-upon-Avon and Huntingdon, England; New York; Chicago; and Paris. The photographer for individual photographs is unclear. The album has suffered damage from chewing rodents and the leather cover is deteriorating. A separate list of photograph locations is included with the album.
