Scope and content:

This large topical subseries chiefly contains print materials, chiefly reports and journal articles, but also news clippings, fact sheets, and handouts on prisons in North Carolina. There is also organizational correspondence about prisons. Topics include pre-trial services, admissions statistics, legislation, prison conditions, prison construction, prisoners with AIDS, the Ku Klux Klan, and information on prisons in other states. Four videos on various aspects of prisons in North Carolina are included. There is also an oversized chart with information on the prison construction moratorium, housed separately for preservation purposes.
