Research and Writings, 1978-2020

Scope and content:

The Research and Writings series (1978-2020) documents the wide scope of Cohen's research and analysis of Human Rights crises and policies. Materials include writing drafts, correspondence with collaborators and reviewers, and journal and article clippings. The series contains three subseries. The Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) subseries covers Cohen's research and writings developing the concept of IDPs and advocating for its importance and use in international conceptualizations of refugees and the need to provide protection for IDPs. The North Korea subseries contains Cohen's research and writings about the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, especially pertaining to political prisoners, hunger and refugees. The subseries includes research materials like annotated articles as well as Cohen's policy recommendations to governments and the United Nations. The General Research and Writings subseries contains files on human rights more broadly.
