- 49 prints
- Scope and content:
-
One of the largest series in the collection, the portraits group begins with two of Davidson's earliest images in this collection, a couple in extreme old age, taken in Patagonia, Arizona in 1955. Other portraits include well-known composers, conductors, rock musicians, politicians, authors, and artists, most based in New York City. Almost all are black-and-white prints. Titles, when present, are taken either from the print versos, or from the Magnum Photos website. A few of these portraits remain unidentified. Many of these images can be found in the photobook titled Portraits, published by Aperture in 2005.
