Extent:
19 Linear Feet (41 boxes)
Physical description:
Original identifiers generally consist of the year taken and a two-digit number; after the 1970s, the photographer's initials (jdd) preface all identifiers but are not expressed in this inventory. A few of the earliest identifiers are lacking the year component. All negatives were developed on safety film. The majority are in color and were created with a view camera on 8x10 inch sheet film; smaller 4x5 inch black-and-white negatives are found in earlier projects, specifically U.S. Road and American Studies.
Scope and content:

Series consists of a selection of work by photographer Jim Dow in film negative format, chiefly 8x10 inch color sheet film created with a view camera, although there are many 4x5 black-and-white negatives in earlier project folders. The negatives are arranged by projects and are further arranged in rough chronological order.

Processing information:

Negatives were assigned original titles and identifiers and housed in sleeves and folders by the photographer; additional rehousing and enhanced folder-level description was performed by library staff, May-July 2019.

Physical facet:
approximately 2300 negatives
Alternative form available:

A complete set of master negatives is held by the photographer.
