Property deeds, indentures of sale, and other legal documents and correspondence related to property transactions and agreements; documents and clippings related to Lillian N. Duke's 1925 appeal of the 1906 divorce suit between herself and James B. Duke; and miscellaneous contracts and court records. Also present are land plats and architectural plans by Horace Trumbauer and other architects for the properties owned by James B. Duke and indentures related to endowments he established. Several of the property transactions documented involve other members of the Duke family, including Benjamin N. Duke and Sarah P. Duke, Washington Duke, Mary E. [Duke] Lyon, and Mary Duke Biddle.
