Contains documents related to James B. Duke's private and business investments, including ledgers, journals, cashbooks, voucher records, deposit slips, cancelled checks, stock certificates, and account balance worksheets. Also present are expense records for payroll and other costs in the Duke households and offices, including The Duke Endowment. Household and office expenses of Benjamin N. Duke and his family are present to a lesser extent. Miscellaneous business records are scattered throughout. Personal and family expenses are also documented through various orders, invoices and receipts for jewelry, travel, club memberships, automobiles, and other expenses.
