The Economic Science Association is a professional organization devoted to economics as an observable science, using controlled experiments to learn about economic behavior. The collection consists of founding documents and bylaws of the ESA, as well membership lists, some business and conference meeting materials, and some files relating to the operation of Experimental Economics , the journal of the organization.

Background

Scope and content:

Files of the Economic Science Association include early correspondence and meeting planning ahead of the organization's founding and corporation in 1986, as well as conference and meeting materials -- such as agendas, attendee lists, and other minutes -- from assorted meetings between 1986 and 2015. There is a set of materials documenting professional correspondence and publication Glenn Harrison's "Theory and Misbehavior of First-Price Auctions" paper in American Economic Review in 1986, which led to ongoing conversation in the field between Harrison, Dan Friedman, and others in ESA, and also a conference and publication on Double Auctions in the early 1990s. There are also some files documenting the launching of the journal Experimental Economics .

The Economic Science Association (ESA) is a professional organization devoted to economics as an observational science, using controlled experiments to learn about economic behavior. It was founded in 1986 and publishes two journals, Experimental Economics and the Journal of the Economic Science Association .
