Leland Phelps was a professor of German Language and Literature at Duke University, who also actively collected nineteenth- and twentieth century American literature. This collection contains assorted serials and other miscellaneous items, including a scrapbook, from his collection on William Faulkner.

Scope and content:

Numerous single periodical issues with content on Faulkner, scrapbook of photographs of Faulkner-related locales in Oxford, Mississippi, and 2 cassettes.

Biographical / historical:

Leland Phelps was a Duke professor in the Germanic Language and Literature Department (faculty member, 1961-1985 and department chair, 1970-1983) who also collected American literature. The majority of Phelps' gift to the Rubenstein Library has been cataloged individually as print items.
