Biographical / historical:

David Fisher (b. October 14, 1956) is a documentary director, producer, and writer from Israel. His films such as Love Inventory (2000), Mostar Round Trip (2011), and Six Million and One (2011) have been shown internationally at film festivals, theaters, and special screenings in Israel, the United States, Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom, Australia, Taiwan, Columbia, and more, winning multiple best documentary awards and other prizes. Fisher also served as General Director for the Israeli New Foundation for Cinema and Television between 1999-2008 before creating his own production company, Fisher Features Ltd. in 2009.

The film, The Round Number premiered in 2021 and was influenced by the diary of Fisher's father and experience during the Holocaust (also explored in Six Million and One ), along with lingering questions about how and why the six million figure was written into canon. Through interviews, archival materials, and moments of reality, Fisher used the film to ask provocative questions about the six million figure and what it can tell people about the Holocaust.

After completing The Round Number , the film premiered at several film festivals in Israel, Argentina, Romania, Morocco, and the United States between 2021-2023. In 2023, The Round Number won the Runner Up award in the BAFTSS (British Association of Film, Television and Screen Studies) Category of Screen Based Practice Research and the Archive of Documentary Arts Collection Awards at Duke University.
