This series includes drafts and published versions of Fleming's speeches, journal articles, essays, and books. Speeches range from personal tributes to academic lectures, and are arranged alphabetically by title. Dates and any additional information are included when known. Fleming's Academic Writings include his dissertation and subsequent versions of his research on Burke County, N.C., as well as research and articles on affirmative action, African American culture and history, and museum leadership. The Fiction Writings contains drafts of A Summer Remembered, a partly-autobiographical novel published by Fleming.
