Scope and content:

The footage featues the 1000 character school of the Mass Education Movement (MEM), led by James Yen (Yangchu Yan 晏陽初) in Ding Xian. The school aimed to improve literacy among people quickly. MEM received great support from one village to build an agricultural experiment station. Scenes are proceeded with detailed text to explain the content and its significance.
