The footage documented Shanghai in 1926-27 when the increasing division between Kuomintang (KMT) and Chinese Communist Party (CCP) resulted in the violent suppression of CCP and the left-wing KMT in April 1927. Guards were seen at many places; soldiers were marching on street, and ports were busy with lots of steam ships and sampans.
