Proof Prints

Scope and content:

Proof prints represent a selection of images marked by Gedney on the contact sheets for further editing and finishing. Most measure 5x7 inches. However, at the end of the Benares series there is also a group of larger prints featuring wall paintings, a large set of 7x11 and 8 1/2 x 11 inch prints, as well as a large group of smaller 2 1/2 x 3 3/4 inch prints.

The proof prints are arranged within each group by legacy id codes assigned by Gedney, and are roughly chronological. In most cases, titles originate from original labels; some folders were assigned titles by library staff according to the known content.
