The collection consists of a set of "World Series Record Books" (edited by Hy Turkin) given away during the sales promotion campaign surrounding Major League Baseball's World Series in 1953 and 1954 in English and French versions, along with a flip chart presentation for Gillette retailers and sales representatives that features spokes-character "Sharpie the Parrot" among the illustrations. Manufacturer of safety razors and shaving equipment, founded by King Camp Gillette and partners in 1901.
The American Safety Razor Company was founded by King Gillette and partners in Boston in 1901. The company renamed as Gillette Safety Razor Company in 1904. Gillette's involvement with Major League Baseball's World Series began in 1939 and in 1950 Gillette obtained exclusive sponsorship of the sports event. Gillette was acquired by Procter & Gamble in 2005.
