Scope and content:

Notebook contents and folders chiefly while Hanks was chairman of the Council. It is comprised of the chairman of the NEA and 26 other members appointed by the President. Primarily concerns meetings, 1970-1977,but also includes a briefing book for new Council members, memoranda, and letters. Meeting information includes primarily mimeographed minutes, agendas, guidelines for and descriptions of programs, financial information and budgets, resolutions, statements, policy statements, memoranda, and allocations. Two major sections: meetings, and memoranda and letters; each section is filed chronologically.

Portions of the collection are restricted, in particular some of the Friends of the Nancy Hanks Center interviews and questionnaires.
