Scope and content:

Language(s): Some materials in Hebrew and Japanese.

A mix of handwritten notes, typescripts, reviews, and clippings related to Vietnam, civil rights, Christian-Jewish relations and other topics. Includes "Prayer" by Heschel, reprinted from the Review of Religion (January 1945), an annotated typescript of "Toward the Formulation of Guiding Principles for the Conservative Movement," and addresses that Heschel delivered at The New York Conference on Soviet Jewry and a B'Nai B'rith Meeting. Contains a number of Heschel's essays including "Some Basic Issues of Jewish Religious Education," "The Patient as a Person," Also includes a copy of Japanese publication, The Weekly Original Gospel (1973), which includes "Rabbi Abraham J. Heschel, In Memory of My Teacher" by Jacob Teshima.
