Scope and content:

Materials in this subseries document Heschel's reputation as a compelling and sought-after public speaker. The materials, including annotated and final drafts of addresses and lectures, handwritten notes, programs, clippings, and correspondence chronicle Heschel's numerous speaking engagements, lectures, and addresses at universities, synagogues, conferences, conventions, meetings, and local schools and organizations. Topics of these speaking engagements vary widely but include the Jewish communities of Eastern Europe, reform Judaism and practices, Jewish prayer, the Bible, the nature of God, and the ineffable. The folders are arranged chronologically.
