Scope and content:

Includes correspondence, memorabilia, and other items documenting Hurwicz's emmigration from Poland and his early years in the US (1939-1946). There is correspondence to him in Polish which appears to be from his father and other family members, who (with Hurwicz's help) joined him in the US after he had established himself. Also includes documents from Hurwicz's early student years in Poland and at the London School of Economics, early papers from his first positions in the US, curriculum vitae, press clippings and newspaper articles, Nobel Prize memorabilia, and obituaries following his death in 2008. Languages include Polish and French. Arranged alphabetically by folder title, with the correspondence arranged chronologically.
