Typescript copies of Inman's poems, writings on poetry, and short stories usually accompanied the letters.

Biographical / historical:

Will Inman was a poet, essayist, columnist, editor, and an activist for civil rights, peace in Vietnam, and communism. He was born William Archibald McGirt, Jr. He was a native of Wilmington, N.C., a 1943 Duke University graduate, and lived in Tucson, Arizona for much of his later life. He died October 3, 2009.

The Will Inman Correspondence with Steven Finch were received by the David M. Rubenstein Rare Book Manuscript Library as a gift in 2016.
