Goodrow, Garry, 2004 August 12

Scope and content:

Garry Goodrow (b. 1933) was born in Malone, New York. He became a tenor saxophonist in Baltimore before moving to a loft in New York City around the time of Dave Young's jazz loft. Musicians also frequented Goodrow's loft. He started acting, playing the part of Ernie in the "The Connection," a 1959 play written by Jack Gelber and performed by the Living Theater, which depicted jazz musicians and junkies.

In this oral history, Goodrow discusses his musical development as a young man, as well as his involvement with the Living Theatre, his drug use, and his transition into the acting world.
