Scope and content:

Harvey Overton (b. 1921) was born in Bangor, MI, the second of the three Overton brothers. He was a writer and professor of humanities at Western Michigan University. Harvey visited his brother Hall Overton in the Jazz Loft.

In multiple interviews, Overton talks about his childhood in Bangor, MI and the life and work of his brother, composer and musician Hall Overton. In particular, Harvey discusses Hall's early involvement with bands, his education in Chicago, and his eventual death from cirrhosis of the liver. Harvey also talks about his own career and the history of the Overton family.
