Scope and content:

Jean Packard, formerly known as Jean Cunningham, was born in Los Angeles. A jazz pianist, she participated in Jazz Loft jam sessions in 1960.

In this oral history, Packard talks about moving to NYC and becoming involved in the jazz scene. Other musicians like Bill Takas and Ronnie Bedford helped her get gigs and introduced her to Hall Overton, from whom she took music lessons. Packard also talks about leaving New York to play piano with a touring company of "Cabaret".
