Founded in 1864, the J. Walter Thompson Company (JWT) is one of the oldest and largest enduring advertising agencies in the United States. It is headquartered in New York. In 2018 JWT merged with Wunderman to form Wunderman Thompson. The International Intelligence Unit operated from JWT's New York office and was responsible for coordinating communications regarding activites at JWT's non-U.S offices. Collection includes clippings, correspondence, data sheets, financial records, photographs, reports, videocassettes and other materials that document the activities of the International Intelligence Unit. Materials relate primarily to advertising account activity; capital expenditures and investments; real estate and office space acquisition; relations with partner firms and subsidiaries. Acquired as part of the John W. Hartman Center for Sales, Advertising & Marketing History.
