Abstract:
Founded in 1864, the J. Walter Thompson Company (JWT) is one of the oldest and largest enduring advertising agencies in the United States. Jack Stevens was Chairman and CEO of Deltakos, a JWT subsidiary focused on the science and medical industries. Deltakos, later known as the JWT Healthcare Group, was absorbed in a merger with Ferguson Communications in 1993.

Scope and content:

Collection spans 1970-1990 and includes correspondence, memoranda, press releases, client contact reports and other printed materials relating to the management of JWT Healthcare/Deltakos and relations with its clients including Eli Lilly. Acquired as part of the John W. Hartman Center for Sales, Advertising & Marketing History.

Biographical / historical:

John (Jack) Stevens. BA 1956, Fairfield University; JD 1966 Chase College. Sales and marketing, Pfizer, c. 1960-1967. Joined JWT 1967 as account representative for Eli Lilly; Account Supervisor for Oral-B c. 1969; President, Deltakos 1975. Retained position when Deltakos merged with Ferguson Communications 1993.

Acquisition information:
The J. Walter Thompson Company. Jack Stevens papers were received by the David M. Rubenstein Rare Book Manuscript Library as a gift in 1993.
