Scope and content:

This subseries focuses on Like a Thief's Dream (2007), a book project born out of Lyon's relationship James Ray Renton (1937-1996) and the research into crimes attributed to Renton including the murder of a police officer named John Hussey in 1975 in which Renton and several other prisoners including Dinker Cassell (1947-2019) were on the run, and Renton's later escape from a maximum-security prison in Arkansas in the late 1980s. Materials of this subseries span 1975-2011 and include correspondence with Lyon, Renton, and Cassell, legal files including Lyon's testimony during Renton's sentencing in 1978, police and government records, research files, a draft manuscript for Like a Thief's Dream, a scrapbook created by Renton featuring photographs of family and friends, postcards, and clippings, and other assorted files.
