Scope and content:

Volume consists of general and special orders issued to and by commanders of the 28th Maine Volunteers. Includes rules and regulations for camp; travel orders for the Regiment (directing them from Augusta, Maine, to New York Harbor and later to Pensacola, Florida, and Louisiana); countersigns; courts-martial for various soldiers; and other topics. Orders are recorded in both manuscript and are pasted in as printed pages. Officers issuing orders include: Major General Banks, Col. E. W. Woodman, George L. Andrews, George M. Atwood, Brig. Gen. Harvey Brown, William Hadlock, and others. The latter half of the volume is blank.
