Background

Scope and content:

Collection consists mostly of black-and-white photographs related to Mallard's career as a Budweiser sales representative in California. Photographs include headshots of Mallard, shots of Mallard with other unidentified Black men and women who were likely also Anheuser-Busch employees, photos of Mallard with Budweiser products and displays, and photos of Mallard at awards events. Several of the Budweiser and awards photos feature fellow members of Kappa Alpha Psi. Two photographs include typescript text of press releases on the reverse (both showing Kappa Alpha Psi members touring a brewery), and one awards photograph includes the newspaper clipping that featured the photo.

Also included in this collection is a document with information about Ben Mallard and Bernice Patterson's 1947 wedding, including church, officiant, best man, and matron of honor names. Several black-and-white photographs from the wedding are present, as well as a few photos of other weddings. The wedding photographs do not identify individuals, but it is likely that they are Kappa Alpha Psi members.
