Sarah F. Martin ("Miss Sallie") manuscript autobiography, 1865-1945

Scope and content:

This 20-page autobiography titled "Miss Sallie" was created by Sarah F. Martin and narrates her life story. It includes a dedication dated April 1940 and a foreword. The biographical narrative is handwritten in ink; other content includes two pasted-in studio photographs, one of Martin at 6 months old (1865), and one of her in nursing uniform (circa 1886); two Woman's Club booklets (1943-1945); and a transcribed poem.

Blank pages have been omitted from the description.

In order to protect the original, Library staff have created a set of color photocopies of the original pages for general use in the reading room.

Processing information:

Library staff removed the pages from the original three-ring binder, which remains in the collection, and housed them in Mylar sheets for preservation purposes.
