Subject, Organization, and Name Files, 1946-2010s

Scope and content:

This series contains an array of topics and groups of files collected and maintained by the Matlocks throughout their lives. The largest sub-series are Name Files, Organizations and Professional Service Files, and Subject: Topics and Geographic Files. Materials have been both assembled by Rubenstein Library into files, or have been retained in existing files as originally sorted by the Matlocks. There are also small subseries for the United World Federalists, which Jack and Rebecca Matlock participated in actively while students at Duke University in the late 1940s; Rebecca Matlock's Spaso House Files, research and other event files from specific Spaso activities during their ambassadorship to Moscow; and Jack Matlock's Language Training files, with his notes and lessons on a wide range of languages he studied during his Foreign Service career.
