Liu Shaoxun (b. 1928) is a resident of Quankouliu, Chaoshui, Penglai, Yantai, Shandong Province. He is the grandfather of the interviewer Liu Xiaolei and the husband of another interviewee Wei Chunxiang. In 1950, as a cadre, he was sent from the Party school to the army for the Korean War. To avoid being expelled, he said goodbye to his fiancée Wei and went to the war. But because there were too many people, he and his fellows didn't cross Yalu River to reach the front. The transcript of this interview has been translated into English.
刘少勋(原名刘绍勋,1928年生)居住于山东省烟台市蓬莱潮水镇全口刘村。刘少勋是采访人刘晓雷的爷爷,魏春香的丈夫。他在1950年的时候,身为干部,从党校被调到军队,参与抗美援朝。为避免开除公职,他和未婚妻告别,前往战场。 不过由于人太多,他和战友没有过江到前线。
