Fan Qingwen (b. 1949) is a resident of Beizhuang Village. In this interview Fan says that both his parents passed when he was little. His gradfather committed suicide in 1959 because he was wronged for stealing food when he was actually borrowing consented by the village carders. At the beginning of Cultural Revolution, Fan went to Beijing to participate in a parade as a red guard, and they were received by Chairman Mao on October 18, 1966. Fan also told a story of peasant woman who cursed Mao to death at a village gathering in 1941. Mao didn't actually punish her because her husband was killed fighting in a communist troop and she had three children to raise by herself. Mao started Nanniwan agricultural development experiment to help local peasants and the troops to be self-sufficient.
