Xiao Meiying (b. 1931) was born in Shantou, Guangdong Province. In this interview, Xiao recalls her life full of hardship. During the Japanese Occupation, Xiao fled from her hometown to Zhai Town, Guangdong Province when she was 12. She was then sold to a landlord and lived like a slave. She got married at 18 and moved to Zhaixia Village. Xiao also talks about her experiences during the Great Famine.
肖妹英1931年出生于广东汕头,是广东省河源市和平县彭寨镇寨下村村民。在这段口述中,肖老人回忆了自己艰苦的一生。日本占领时期,12岁的肖老人逃难来到寨镇,被人贩卖给地主,过着非人的生活,18岁嫁到寨下村。肖老人还回忆了大饥荒时的经历。
