Scope and content:

Feng Dexin (b.1946) is a resident of Houfengqiao Village, Juye County, Shandong Province. In this interview Feng recalls life during the Great Famine. Life was not good from 1959 to 1962, and he believes that it was because of the Great Leap Forward and China's conflict with the Soviet Unions. He also remembers the different kinds of food people at then.

冯德辛1946年出生,是山东省巨野县后冯桥村的村民。在这段口述中,冯老人回忆了大饥荒时的生活。1959年到62年生活都很不好,他说是因为大跃进以及中国和苏联的矛盾。他也回忆了人们当时吃的各种食物。

Feng Decun (b.1943) is resident of Houfengqiao Village, Juye County, Shandong Province. In this interview, Feng remembers life during the Great Famine. Food was not enough, and many people starved to death and got edema disease.

冯德存1943年出生,是山东省巨野县后冯桥村的村民。在这段口述中,冯老人回忆了大饥荒时的生活。粮食不够吃,很多人饿死、得水肿病。

Xu Jiazhi (b.1943) is a resident of Houfengqiao Village, Juye County, Shandong Province. In this interview, Xu remembers life during the Great Famine. She says that the boasting of production and waste of food led to starvation at that time.

徐桂芝1943年出生,是山东省巨野县后冯桥村的村民。在这段口述中,徐老人回忆了大饥荒时的生活。她说当时的产量虚报和食物浪费造成了挨饿。

Feng Jianyan (b.1945) is a resident of Houfengqiao Village, Juye County, Shandong Province. In this interview, Feng remembers life during the Great Famine. He says that there were three kinds of "many" —— many peeled trees, many white shoes, and many graves. After the upper levels came to inspect and made reports, they got sorghums, and later the edema disease hospital was established. Life became better after 1962.

冯建言1945年出生,是山东省巨野县后冯桥村的村民。 在这段口述中,冯老人回忆了大饥荒时的生活。他说当时有三多—— 树扒皮多,穿白鞋的多,坟头多。上级视察后向上面汇报,批下了高粱,之后又成立了水肿病院。62年以后生活就好点了。
