Gao Xiuqing (b. 1934) is a resident of Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province. In this interview, Gao recalls the life during the Great Famine and her experience of working in Shijiazhuang in 1960. When Gao was still in her hometown, her family's condition was quite good so they did not experience hunger. Her family even helped one poor family in her village. Because Gao's husband was working in Shijiazhuang, Gao then moved to live in the city with him. In 1960, she was working at the canteen of her work unit. Sometimes when someone starving badly came to her and begged for food, she would gave them some of the leftover from the canteen.
高秀清1934年出生，是河北省石家庄居民。在这段口述中，高老人回忆了大饥荒时的生活和60年在石家庄上班的经历。高老人在村里时家里条件还不错，没有怎么挨过饿，他们家还接济过村里一户比较穷的人家。因为高老人的丈夫在石家庄工作，高老人便一起搬到城里。60年她在单位食堂做饭，有时会遇到饿坏了的人来讨饭，她便把多余的食物送给人家。
