Dong Lan (b. 1948) is a resident of Tanghai County. In this interview, Dong Lan says that people had to eat a lot of wild vegetables because of the severe shortage of food. She had to do manual labor as a teenager.

东兰1948年生，是唐山市唐海县村民。东兰老人说那时吃很多野菜来补充粮食的严重不足。她年龄不大还要干重活。

Fu Yin (b. 1945) is a resident of Tanghai County. In this interview, Fu Yin says that people ate a lot of wild vegetables because of the severe shortage of food. Nobody starved to death in his village but a lot did in two nearby villages.

印付1945年生，是唐山市唐海县村民。印付老人说粮食很少吃了很多野菜。他们村没有人饿死，但邻近的两个村子饿死的人很多。
