Shi Wencheng (b.1941) is a resident of Shangpanshi Village, Anhe Town, Yanchang County, Yan'an City, Shaanxi Province. In this interview, Shi recalls experiences during the Great Famine. He was in high school between 1958 and 1961, during the three years of difficulty; he had less food than before, and also went to blast furnace with the classmates. His father passed away, but he had the first class scholarship so did not have too much difficulty at school. The anti-rightist movements at school in 1959 left him with a strong impression. The filmmaker's description of this interview has been translated into English.
