This film follows three Boston-area public middle-schoolers as they make a leap across the education gap. The students take a risk entering Beacon Academy, a 14-month program that aims to help students from historically underrepresented communities succeed at some of the best private high schools in the country. Four years later, these students revisit their life-changing year, the benefits and the costs. The film illuminates the difficult journey that this group of low income students of color in New England embark on to arrive in New England's top performing, predominantly white high schools.
