The series includes Richard Payne's personal papers and effects. Included are his Elizabeth, New Jersey library card and material on his longtime association with the Mt. Teman AME Church. Also included are a variety of photographs including Payne's professional headshots, photos of him with medical colleagues, and photos of his family. Personal correspondence, such as cards and postcards, are included, as well as material from Richard Payne's 2019 funeral at Union Baptist Church in Durham, North Carolina. The series also includes Payne's medical tools, including a disposable scalpel, tongue depressor, first aid bandages, and reflex hammer, and his leather doctor's bag.
