Containers:
Scope and content:

Letters of Lucinda Brunson, Samuel C. Brunson, and Susan E. (Curry) Brunson, including love letters with plans of elopement between Samuel and Susan.

Biographical / historical:
Lucinda Brunson (Hollingworth) (1838-1883) and Samuel C. Brunson (1831-1855) were children of Rev. Daniel Dudley and Lucretia (Lowe) Brunson of Edgefield, South Carolina. Samuel was a doctor and married Susan E. Curry (1835-1855) in 1853. He died, possibly of tuberculosis, in September 1855. Susan died soon after in December 1855.
Processing information:

Susan Brunson was previously misidentified in this collection as Susan Pickens, daughter of F. W. Pickens. The Brunson family resided in Edgefield, South Carolina, and it is unclear if there is another connection with the Pickens family.
