This collection contains correspondence, lectures, writings, and course notes. There is also testimony involving a union dispute.

Biographical / historical:

Albert Everett Rees (1921-1992) was a white American academic economist and administrator who was born in New York City. He graduated with a bachelor's degree from Oberlin College in 1943 and a PhD in economics from the University of Chicago in 1950. He taught labor economics at the University of Chicago (1962-1966) and Princeton University (1966-1979) before becoming provost at Princeton University (1975-1977) and president of the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation (1979-1988). He was an economic advisor to President Gerald R. Ford and the first director of the Council on Wage and Price Stability (which was was dissolved in 1981).

The Albert E. Rees papers were received by the David M. Rubenstein Rare Book and Manuscript Library as a gift in 1993.
